YEAH! The Artist won for the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Leading Actor, Best Costume Design and Best Original Score! Super excited! I almost (I mean literally) screamed during the Oscar!

So glad that The Artist is the Best Picture!

Billy Crystal was the host and he's marvelous! He's such a funny guy. And I really love his smile. SO CUTE!

In the Oscar after-party, guess what I saw. I saw Stana freakin' Katic! So happy to see her in the party. She looked beautiful in that dress. Her dress actually reminded me Angelina Jolie's one because they both did some leg show-off. Anyway, Stana looked better than Angelina, of course.

I just watched “The Artist” yesterday. I can’t get it off my mind. It’s truly an amazing film. Michel Hazanavicious rocks!

In the film, Peppy represents sound film (the new generation) while George represents silent film. Without George, Peppy would not become famous. Without silent film, without the past of film, there wouldn’t be sound film nowadays.

I think the last scene implies that we need to accept changes, but we should never forget the past.

On the other hand, I really love the music! Ludovic Bource is such a genius! Actually, I had already listened to the soundtrack before I watched the film. While I was watching (and listening to the beautiful music), I had that film-loving feeling spreading all over my body. I know it sounds a bit exaggerative, but that’s how I felt anyway.

By the way, I was a little shocked when I heard the glass hit on the table in George’s dream. And I like that scene because it shows how George refused and scared of the change of film.

The history of film is priceless; the past of film is memorable.

The Artist is my choice for the Oscar best Picture! =)

Theater is the best place for movies

Recently I went to the theater for several movies. So I guess I should update something about my life of film =)

Last month (January) I watched "Mission Impossible 4", "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" and "The Descendants". Today, I watched "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close".

Glad that I've already watched 2 Oscar nominees. Hopefully, I'll watch "The Artist" and "Hugo" next week! =D

Today is the last day of 2011. It's really tough year since I'm now a senior in high school. Taking the SAT, writing essays, applying college... Anyway, everything is going smoothly and I'm great. =)

Now, I gotta do something conservatively traditional, New Year Wish.

Right now, my biggest dream is to get in my favorite college. That is really a selective one, but it's perfect for me and i really really love it! I r

eally want to spend my 4 years college life there. So, I only got one wish, only one, and I hope it will come true. I hope my favorite college will accept me.

By the way, I receive 2 letters from USC (University of Southern California). A thank-you letter, and information about paying for college. I was crazily excited about that. LOL! I was literally CRAZY!

It has been 2 months since my last post.

The college application deadline is approaching, and I have already submitted some of them. Still got a dramatic essay for Film & TV major. I gotta hurry up!

Nothing special recently, just test and test and test and test and test and test and test and test and test and test and test... Tomorrow, I got a history DBQ test AGAIN! Luckily, I love History and that's my favorite subject. Hopefully, I'll do well.

I actually the last few months meaningless. Besides applying for college, all I need to do is to keep reviewing and studying and memorizing everything. During lessons, all we need to do is practice paper and mock paper and exercise. What's the point of going to school? Everything is just CRAZY! I mean really really CRAZY!

My senior secondary school life (yr 10-12) are terribly insane. I hate exam-oriented learning method. All those tests are driving me crazy. LUCKILY, during these years, I have Castle & Bones standing beside me! You two give me happiness and funny things every week. =)

2012 is coming soon, hope I'll survive!

I'm always a fan of Bones for god's sake. I bet most fans feel hard to wait until 3rd Nov. So sad that the season premiere was postponed because of Emily Deschanel's pregnancy. Anyway, she gonna have a lovely baby.

Black Swan

I watched "Black Swan" on the 26th of February, and I think it's a brilliant film.

The film used the Swan Lake theme as the movie music very well. It could bring out the tense feeling of the exciting scenes, and is astonishing. On the other hand, the film editing is quite good. The film explained the whole thing clearly, and the audience won't be confused between Nina's illusion and the reality.

About the acting, I don't think I can judge Natalie Portman anything, as I'm not a professional, and she already won the Oscar. Her acting is very bewitching. And seems like I was experiencing her mental derangement.

However, the visual effects are a little bit weird, especially the scene that Nina's neck was stretched.

Overall, "Black Swan" is fascinating, and really worth to watch.

P.S. The shot that Nina's mother was standing at the corner of the kitchen with blood on the shirt is really scary.

I need to study for the upcoming exam, so I gotta do it fast. Anyway, I must post this before the GG award ceremony.

- Danny Elfman - Alice in Wonderland

- Hans Zimmer - Inception

- Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross - The Social Network

As an unexperienced, I think "Alice in Wonderland" is the best. The theme score attracted me at the very beginning of the movie. It used the tension of string music to bring out the mysterious feeling, like opening the door of Wonderland for the audience. And then with female ensemble, like pulling you inside, inviting you to get into the film. And I felt like I was dropping into the rabbit hole too.

Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite composers, so I'd like to talk about "Inception" too. I think the structure of "Inception" is a little bit similar to "The Da Vinci Code". Both of them just keep playing the same short melodies over and over again. But later on louder and louder, and add some other instrument. The music goes more and more exciting.

"Inception" theme score gives me a feeling of sinking into something, maybe a dangerous place. And the danger comes closer and closer, as the music goes tighter and tighter.

Here are the five nominees... and also "The Da Vinci Code" (I like it).

I didn't watch this film, but I like this piece.

The Tourist

Just watched "The Tourist" today. I like that story as its quite factual (more factual than "Knight & Day"), and the surprising ending is quite amazing.

I love the way Depp acted as a Maths teacher. Paranoid, gentlemanlike and a little bit cute. For Jolie, I think her character is very suggestive, noble and smart. And I don't think I can criticize their acting.

About the movie score, all those music just really match the scenes, and bring out the right feelings. There're two melodies can represent the whole film, one is touchy feely and one is exciting. And the two scores below with those two melodies are really impressive.

However, I think the film can add more action scene, maybe escape scene or gun battle. That would be more breathtaking (just my suggestion).

Of course I will compare "The Tourist" with "Knight & Day". Well... as I said, T's story is more factual than KD. And the plot development is better than KD too, as it's more pregnant. Yet, KD is more exciting than T, as the action scenes are much cooler. Also, the chemistry between Diaz and Cruis in KD is more provoking. But you may say T and KD's situations are different.

Being a student is never an easy job. I'm now having loads of homework and tests. I'm going to take the HKDSE (public exam) next year when I'm in Year 12, so I gotta prepare better.

Next month is December, and as you know... it's Christmas! However, during the lovely Christmas holiday, I need to got to school for a few days (which is NOT humane). *sigh xx poor me...

I don't know whether you know who's my favorite actress or not. So let me tell you, I LOVE Nicole Kidman so so much~ =)

And now I wanna tell you about my story of loving NK...

When I was twelve, I watched "Bewitched" at home and saw a lovely lady. I searched something about her on the Net and found out she's Nicole Kidman. I like her but later forgot her. When I was almost fourteen, I watched the 80th Oscar because Enchanted's songs were nominated. Then I saw NK again!!! She's so stunning gorgeous, and she's pregnant at that time. I suddenly fell in love with her. It's the 25th of February in 2008.

Then I started watching movies of her and she became my forever favorite actress! And her film "Moulin Rouge" is my favorite too. I like her acting, singing and dancing. She is WONDERFUL for me! Of course also her style, she's always the most charming lady on the red carpet with her glamour~

I love movies because of her. So now I always listen to movies score, and study films by reading books of Professors.

OMG! Knight and Day... FABULOUS! The chemistry between Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz is so charming. They look so cool together. In the film, Diaz acted like a stupid and cute lady, and Cruise was so great with his body and really funny!

It's like a comedy, an action film, a romance film, very very IMPRESSIVE. Some funny lines repeat and repeat again, and it makes the audience laugh once... and twice! My favorite is "With me. Without me." This line not only to show that Cruise was a good agent, the most attractive point is the chemistry between them.

Sorry... but I really have to say "Knight and Day" is better than "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". As it's funnier and hotter, also it has many beautiful outdoor scenes which match the whole film. LOVE IT!!!

Toy Story 3

'Toy Story 3 is so touching!'

Well... I heard many said that... and YES, that's true! No doubt, "Toy Story 3" is a wonderful animation and has a meaningful message for the audience.

Actually, before Toy Story, the animation "Day and Night" is great too. You know I really wanna clap after watching that short animation... haha! Unfortunately, it's cinema, right?!

We all had toys when we were a child. When we get older, we would throw them away. Is that what you did to your toys? One of the reasons why I like this film is that Andy gave the toys to a little girl and told her to treasure them. I like this ending cause the toys wouldn't turn into rubbish, and finally they had a new home and give happiness to children again.

I can't guarantee it will be the winner of Best Animation, but... believe me or not "Toy Story 3" will be the nominee of Oscar Best Animation.

The sexy and hot principal action actress!

'What the hell is she doing?'

'Oh god... Is that really Jolie's body?'

That's what I'm think while watching.

You know Angelina Jolie did all the action scenes by herself. She practiced "Krav Maga" before shooting and she did a great great job! I guess all the audience was amazed by her fantastic action skills. That was really cool.

For the story, it's quite good. Audience need to guess Jolie's real position cause she killed many in the film and you really don't know whether she's Russian or American spy. However, comparing with other spy movies, this story isn't special. Well... not special, but exciting! Maybe because the director is Phillip Noyce.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

I've just watched "The Prince of persia: The Sands of Time" today afternoon. I think that movie is not bad, quite impressive! =)

Those action scenes are great. With cool action and good sound editing & mixing, NICE! I really can't agree more that the fightings are fantastic. I just kept my eyes on the swords' movement and the Prince's jump. Super COOL!

I would say it isn't a great movie, but a great adventure movie as the action parts are really NIFTY!!!

Finally, I found the mother of horror film, "Nosferatu". It's a German Expressionist vampire horror film.

(The vampire looks quite horrible...)

Actually I haven't watched it yet cause I'll have my Year 10 final exam very soon (start from 11/6) so I got to study more. You may watch it and let me know whether it's good or not.

Broadway Musical "CHICAGO"!

So happy that "Chicago" returns to Hong Kong from 20 May 2010! I just watched it yesterday night at HKAPA. Actually I don't study musical, but I really can't agree more about what the media says...

I got IELTS practice, gymnastic practice... I don't know. I don't know! I don't have much things to do NOW, but I'm thinking and preparing so many things for my future, or maybe next year. I'm so nervous and worry that I can't study in my dream college. So scared...

I always think about my future career and I'm afraid that I don't have enough experiences in that kind of work. I wanna take a course now but I don't have TIME!

Restored Original Cut of “Metropolis”

I watched "Metropolis - Restored Original Cut" at the Grand theatre of HKCC last night. It's the Asia Premiere, also the special presentation of the 34th HKIFF.

Old-fashioned shots, exaggerate acting and weird movement, but don't forget it's a 1927 German silent film.

This film must be the ancestor of science film. There're "Frankenstein", "Star Wars" and "Avatar" because of "Metropolis".

Director Fritz Lang told us that, technology can benefit the world, but may also destroy it if people are selfish. As there's a flood because of robot Maria, you may get this meaningful message from the director.

Don't think that a 1927 science film is so serious, there're also some funny scene in the movie. The audience may get the message and also having fun.

At last, I must say that I appreciate the performance of the brilliant conductor Frank Strobel and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta (one of Hong Kong's flagship orchestras). It must be very hard by playing music and matching every scenes at the same time.

By the way, I like the theme song! ^^

I've just watched "Nine". That was so spectacular. A brilliant musical movie. Ha ha! Rob Marshall back to his musical, huh?!

Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz did a great job in acting. Judi and Sophia were fantastic. Fergie and Kate Hudson were wonderful and spectacular while singing and dancing. Inspiration is very important to a screenplay writer. Nicole Kidman is the muse, haha! Love them all!

The cast is very good as five actors are Oscar winners, the acting is wonderful. There're many actresses in the film so Rob Marshall showed all of them in the Overture, and it also point out the theme of the film. At last in Finale it showed them all again, audience can see the difference between dispiritedness and confidence of Guido.

This film is very spectacular (Sorry I got to repeat it). The background, costumes, singing and dancing can show how grand and spectacular it was. No wonder it's the oscar nominee of Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.

Metropolis

Metropolis is a silent German expressionism science fiction film directed by Fritz Lang in 1927.

Th 30mins lost part of the film had been found in Buenos Aires. And there's now a complete version of this film. There will be two premieres in both Berlin and Hong Kong. The Berlin one will be in February and the Hong Kong will be on the first of April.

Before "The Matrix", "Blade Runner", "Star Wars" and "A Space Odyssey", "Metropolis" started it all.

The fight between two planets, the differnce between human, the love between Jake and Neytiri... How cruel and selfish the human are! How united the Na'vi are! I have nothing to say but... BRAVO!

James Cameron is such a genius! OMG! Just look at the screenplay, the effects, the actors. He's GREAT!

This is a really good movie. Don't miss this. I'm not joking! If you don't watch this, you won't know what "wonderful" really is.

I watched 2012 today. OMG! That was super cool.

This disaster film not just mention about the disaster. Also, human nature, sympathy and family. It's heart-stirring and you can feel that. The man who pretented to be the leader of US was selfish. The scientist sympathized with others and understood the human rights. And also family separated and met each other again.

Wow! That's a disaster film. How can I skip the effects part? The visual effects are super spectecular! The sound mixing is just really really GREAT!!! Ths film must be the nominee of Oscar... for sound editing, sound mixing or visual effects... any of them!!! It's super cool!

OMG! I was right by choosing "2012" instead of "A Christmas Carol". I won't regret about that! ^^

Well... I don't know if it's a bad news or good news to you. Anyway, I won't watch "A Christmas Carol" but "2012".

Many people said that "A Christmas Carol" is boring. Actually I just want to enjoy the 3D and go support Jim Carrey. So... it's not a problem for me to not to watch it. Ha Ha! I'm looking forward to watch "2012". Can't wait to see the visual and sound effect!!!

Will "2012" be the nominee of Oscar for any effect awards?

2009 is going... 2010 is coming...

During December, I'll watch "A Christmas Carol" and "Avatar". Maybe I'll watch "Avatar" in IMAX cinema. That will be really great. Spectacular Spectacular~

2010 first season, I'll watch "Nine". You know "Nine" will release in Hong Kong very late?! Maybe February... ><

Julie & Julia

I watched "Julie & Julia" yesterday and really like it! ^^

These two woman fought for their goal. Laughing and Crying. Success and Fail. Support and Oppose. At last, they reached the goal.

I really love the last scene that Amy Adams put down the butter and said "Julia, I love you." How touching it was!

Julie shows that how Julia affected her life. Julia made Julie braced up and fought for her life!
